Join us for an engaging conversation with visual artist, musician, and poet Lee Jaffe as he shared about the transformative years of reggae music and the Wailers’ early international success (1973-1975).
In his new book, published by Rizzoli in partnership with Mandela Media, Jaffe shares his firsthand experiences living with Bob Marley at 56 Hope Road in Jamaica and his unique perspective as a member of the Wailers. He will discuss his time capturing iconic photographs of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer, set against a backdrop of political and social change in Jamaica. The discussion will also touch on the start of Peter Tosh’s solo career with the groundbreaking 1976 album “Legalize It.

Pat McKay was born in NYC and in childhood lived in Kingston, JA, attending school there and returning to NYC for high school. Her work in Reggae began at Greenwich Village, NYC’s ‘Club Negril’. She attended Baruch and Oberlin College where she began radio on the school’s renowned WOBC hosting a weekly Reggae show and became the college club’s Reggae DJ. Pat eventually hosted WBLS’s ‘Reggae House Party’ on WBLS, became Music PD at WLIB, and co hosted ‘The Quiet Storm’ on WBLS for years- hosting on one and both stations for nine years until1998 when she began working at WRKS FM NY, until she began working at Sirius XM in 2000, where she is the Director of Music Programming- Reggae.
Sanford Kwinter is a renowned theorist whose publications over the past three decades have pioneered new ideas in art, architecture, and urbanism. He has taught at various institutions, including Columbia University, Harvard, MIT, and Städelschule in Frankfurt, Germany. Currently, he serves as Professor of Theory and Criticism at Pratt Institute. Professor Kwinter is a co-founder of Zone Books.
